Story Memorial is not just a Sunday morning church service; it is an ongoing ministry that seeks to lead believers to a God-centered way of life. To help the Story Family achieve this most worthy goal, there are a number of ministries that help us keep focused on what is truly important - OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD!

MUSIC - Music is an important part of the Story Memorial ministry. We have three avenues for those wishing to praise our Lord through music - the Adult Choir, the Praise and Worship Team, and the Story Book Choir. WIC (WOMEN IN THE CHURCH) - The purpose of the Women in the Church is that every woman know Christ personally and be committed to extending His Kindom in her life, home, church, community and throughout the world. WIC at Story is an active organization that is involved in many areas. More

PRAYER BAND - Prayer is an important part of life at Story. We believe strongly that God hears our prayers and uses them to achieve His purposes here on earth. The prayer band is a ministry of church members who pray for those in the Story Family and for concerns both inside and outside the church. Members are contacted with requested areas for prayer by phone, in person, or by e-mail.

MUMS (MOTHERS AND UNWED MOTHERS SERVICE) - MUMS is an outreach program sponsored by the Story WIC to serve teenage mothers in our county. Working with the McDowell County school system, MUMS provides baby supplies, clothing, furniture, and transportation for doctor's visits along with emotional and all-important spiritual support to teens who reject abortion and decide to give life to their babies.   WEDNESDAY FAMILY NIGHT SUPPER - At Story, Christian fellowship is not only a priority, it is a pleasure! Weekly we have a Wednesday evening supper at 5:30 p.m. in our Fellowship Hall where families join with singles who join with newcomers who join with longtime members to relax, talk, share, and be part of the Story family.   WEDNESDAY EVENING PRAYER MEETING AND CLASSES - After the Wednesday meal, at 6:30 p.m. the adults gather together for the prayer meeting while the youth are involved in classes such as a Catechism class or Bible study. The prayer meeting gives the Story Family a chance to hear Bible teaching followed by a discussion period. After this, prayer requests are taken and then the adults split up into small groups for community prayer.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES - Every Sunday morning starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday School classes are held for all different ages and interests. Each provides a closer look at an aspect of God-centered life aimed at making us faithful stewards of our Lord and Savior. More

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP - Story Memorial is committed to our youth as they grow up in these difficult times. Our aim for our junior and senior high students is Christian growth with Christian guidance. Youth Pastor Jason Tippetts leads our outreach to this most important and critical ministry at Story. More

GROWTH GROUPS - The Story small group ministry, called Growth Groups, is a way for the Story family to grow closer to both God and His people. Ongoing groups of up to a dozen people gather the last Sunday of the month in a member's home for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. Here is a place where those new to the faith can grow in an encouraging environment while longtime Christians can praise and worship God on a more intimate level. In a small group environment every person has the opportunity to speak up - asking questions, making comments, sharing private concerns - which might be intimidating to do in a large group.

MISSIONS - We at Story believe that we have been called by God to be a missions church. Missions and the work of missionaries are at the forefront of Story, involving a larger share of time, energy and resources than at most churches. Involvement in mission work from prayer to financial support to going on mission trips has a long history at Story and we see even more involvement in the future. More
